#9-Poem Mash Up
Secondhand Grief comes after great pain
#8-Book Talk
#7-Slice of Life
It was either the second or third day of this school year. I sat down at the lunch table with my friends ready to talk about my new classes. When I noticed a lonely girl sitting all by herself at a table. Immediatly I decided I was going to sit with this girl. All I had to do was convince my friends to do the same. We walked over there and introduced ourselves. The girl told me that she was a freshman and she just moved to Springfield over the summer so she didn’t know anyone at our school. It felt good to know that by me being friendly might have brightend someone elses day.
#6-Podcasting: A Literary Connection
One Podcast I found especially interesting was one about Hatchet written by Gary Paulsen. I enjoyed the podcast for I have already read the book. The creaters used many different voices thoughout the entire time. They also summarized it in their own words and read from different parts of the book. They had intriguing sound effects. Some were birds chirping and running water. Which I felt went very well with the strory. Also there were original compositions of music during the podcast, which the listener discovers at the end of the podcast during the credits. I extremely liked the tone of the speakers. They used different tones to go along with the feeling and emotion with the story. Overall this was an exceptional podcast.

#5-Text Messaging
I think text messaging is a simple way to comunicate with others. It is fast, easy and available at most people fingertips. I don’t text as much as some high schoolers do, but I do my fair share. I regularly text message my friends and my parents. I feel that text messaging doesn’t affect my writing. For I know the abbreviations used in texting have no place in literature. I think that text messaging has no place to be important. In such things as campaignes, school, in the media and in our language. I believe face-to-face conversations are an important part of life. Also that Texting hasn’t changed my everyday life.
#3-Blogging
- What is a blog?
- Where have you ever heard of blogs?
- How comfortable are you with computers?
- What kinds of things do you do with computers typically?
- What is your opinion of writing?
- What kind of writing do you like to do?
- Why are parents, teachers, and others so concerned about teens’ safety when they’re using the Internet?
- Is the Internet dangerous?
- What do your peers generally do with computers and the Internet?
- What do you think/how do you feel about the year ahead, knowing that you will be using a blog a lot in Lit 10 Honors?
A personal post that is found on the internet.
On myspace.
I am pretty comfortable if it is somthing I do often. But if it is really technical then I usually get confused.
I check my e-mail, play games, and use the internet.
It can be fun if you write about something you have interest in.
I enjoy writing fiction.
For there are dangerous people on the internet who might want to cause harm.
To certain people who don’t have the right knowledge of the dangers on the internet.
They could get on myspace and do research on the computer.
I am kind of worried for I am not experienced in computers.

#1-Fifty Feet off the Ground
This sunny summer I had the best week of my life. I attended Wildhorse, a Young Life camp. The amusement never stopped. For there were so many activities to do.
One day we were signed up for the ropes course. A fifty feet high up obstacle course we had to complete while being hooked up to a wire. It felt like it was a hundred feet up. I was excited to do this activity.
At first I wasn’t nervous. For it seemed completely harmless and thrilling. While putting my harness on I was a little bit more intimidated by the height. When I finally walked up those steps one at a time, dreading for what was coming.
Okay, I was hooked onto the wire. Thinking this is completely safe. Then I get to the first obstacle a round wooden log. You walked across it while holding onto the wire. Then I started thinking there is no way I am doing that. I waited a couple of minutes to gain my confidence to keep going.
After a while I did fine taking my time. I completed the rope bridge that was missing several steps along the way. I crawled over a net. When I came to an extremely difficult challenge. A wire to walk across with ropes hanging down about a foot apart. I stood there at the platform, terrified, not wanting to move a single inch. In my mind I was thinking I want down immediately.
The guide was directly across on my left. She told me it was alright, and that it is easier if you hold onto the wire that is holding you instead of the hanging ropes. So I finally did that. Proud of myself for going through the course so far.
I wasn’t ready for what was next. The part where you do get down. There was a person standing at the final platform. He would hook you up to the rope that the man at the bottom would ease you down slowly to the ground. I was frightened that the rope would break or I would smack the pole on my way down. Finally I put my fears away and went for it.
When I was done I was pleased that my feet were touching solid ground. But From the encouragement from my friends and the desire to finish helped my overcome my fear of heights. I was so proud of myself for being so brave and actually believing that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
